Reed Waller Sr. and his wife, Marjorie Waller, were found dead Wednesday morning in what authorities have ruled a double suicide, just weeks before their scheduled trial on charges related to multiple missing persons cases tied to the self-help group MaximizeMe.
The Wallers were discovered in their Bakersfield residence by a neighbor who had grown concerned after several days of newspapers accumulating on their doorstep. A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of forced entry or struggle. Authorities believe the deaths were planned, citing the presence of handwritten notes and evidence of a coordinated effort.
In a tragic and unsettling turn, the Wallers leave behind their young son, Reed Waller Jr., who was found in a back bedroom, physically unharmed but exhibiting unusual behavior. According to responding officers, the child would only repeat the same short phrase — the contents of which have not been publicly disclosed — and refused to eat anything but french fries.
Child protective services have taken temporary custody of the boy while arrangements are being made with extended family. Officials have stated that due to the ongoing investigation, no additional details regarding his condition will be released at this time.
